Festive Mould

Mould. We see it on bread, fruit, walls, etc but this is the first that I’ve ever seen it in a petri dish in the shape of a Christmas tree.

A group of scientists from the J.Craig Venture Institute clearly got into the Christmas spirit and combined science and art to create these little mould sculptures. They did this in an attempt to show the underlying beauty that mould possesses, rather than seeing it as ‘gross and disgusting’. Interesting, but I’m not sure their plan quite worked.
